Željko Lučić, the World-Renowned Baritone, Is the New Artistic Director of the National Theatre Opera

On January 25, the world-renowned baritone, Željko Lučić, was appointed the new Artistic Director of the Opera Department at the National Theatre in Belgrade.
"It is my great pleasure and honour to become a member of this wonderful ensemble and I hope that with my contribution we will continue to walk the path of glory, and that with the cooperation with Mr. Goncić and Mr. Đurković we will achieve the best possible results", Željko Lučić said after signing the contract.
For more than two and a half decades he has been building a very successful career abroad, performing in the most prestigious opera houses in the world, such as the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Royal Opera House in London, San Francisco Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Vienna State Opera…
His many engagements at the Metropolitan Opera include performances of the title roles in Macbeth, Nabucco and Rigoletto, as well as the roles of Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, Amonasro in Aida, Georges Germont in La Traviata, Count di Luna in The Troubadour, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, John in Salome and Scarpia in Tosca.
He completed his solo singing studies at the Academy of Music in Novi Sad in the class of Professor Biserka Cvejić.
