Drama Director Molina Udovički Fotez Laid a Wreath on the Memorial Plaque of the Tragically Deceased Premier Stage Actor of the National Theatre in Belgrade Dragan Maksimović

Commemorating the 21st anniversary of the tragic death of the actor of the National Theatre in Belgrade, Dragan Maksimović Maksa, on February 4 the director of the Drama, Molina Udovički Fotez, laid a wreath on his memorial plaque in Zeleni Venac.

The memorial plaque was placed at the spot where the former premier stage actor of the National Theatre was brutally beaten by hooligans on the night between November 17 and 18, 2000.
 
After two and a half months spent in hospital, on February 4, 2001, the acclaimed drama artist succumbed to injuries.

The memorial plaque, placed next to the former "Beli grad" restaurant, was unveiled on November 18, 2006 in memory of Maksimović, but also as a warning that such a mindless and insane act should never happen again. 

Maksimović was born on February 7, 1949 in Podujevo.

During his career, he appeared in over 60 roles in theatre, film and on television.

He made his debut at the National Theatre in Belgrade in 1971 with the role of the Soldier in the play "Mother Courage and Her Children".

During three decades he spent in this theatre, he played very prominent roles in the plays "The Sarajevo Assassination" (Nedeljko Čabrinović), "The Mandrake” (Friar Timoteo), "Britannicus" (Nero), "Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky" (Genrikh Grigoryevich Yagoda), "Kosovo Chronicle" (Avdula), "Brawling in Chioggia" (Beppe), "The Last Chase for Gold" (Cager), "Endgame" (Hamm), "A Month in the Country" (Ignati Ilyich Shpigelsky), "The Trial of Madame Bovary" (Sénard),"Long Day's Journey into Night" (Edmund Tyrone), "Maksim Crnojević" (Doge of Venice) ... 

He played in the television series "The Written Offs", "The Tobacco Road", "Stories from the Workshop", "Nineteen Forty-Eight - Conspiracy and Betrayal", "Open Door", "Up and Down" ...

He acted in the films "Petria's Wreath", "Slicker", "Time of Miracles", "The Last Lap in Monza", "Wounds", "Fall of Italy", "The Knife", "We Are No Angels", "The Black Bomber", "The Hornet", "Pretty Village, Pretty Flame"...

Maksimović also collaborated with one of the world's most renowned theatre directors and theorists, Peter Brook. In his play "Meetings with Remarkable Men", from 1979, he masterfully played the role of the Armenian philosopher and mystic Gurdjieff.
