Rehearsals of Molière's “The Imaginary Invalid” Directed by Nikola Zavišić Started

The rehearsals of the play “The Imaginary Invalid” have started at the National Theatre in Belgrade, based on the text of the famous French comedian Jean-Baptiste Poquelin Molière, directed by Nikola Zavišić.
The premiere is planned for December 5 on the “Raša Plaović” Stage.
Dramaturge Periša Perišić, set designer Jelena Radović, costume designer Suna Kažić, composer Jovan Stamatović Karić, choreographers Tamara Pjević and Jakša Filipovac, and Ljiljana Mrkić Popović (stage speech) are the members of the artistic team of this theatrical work in which the roles are played by Ivan Bosiljčić, Sonja Kolačarić, Anastasia Mandić, Danilo Lončarević, Zoran Ćosić, Sava Milutinović, Nemanja Stamatović, Iva Milanović, Vučić Perović, Nikola Vujović, Nemanja Konstantinović and Jovan Stamatović-Karić.
Director Zavišić, known in the theatre world for his specific research and creative process, especially for the use of light and videos in his productions, announced that “The Imaginary Invalid” would be contemporary, both in atmosphere and in the way it was going to be staged.
“I find this piece interesting from several angles. In addition to the fact that it is Molière's last play, I was very intrigued by his tragic fate, as a playwright and actor, that is, an author who devoted his whole body and soul to what we call theatre art. I've seen various productions of this play, but I've never seen one that included opera and ballet. I am very eager to do it, and thanks to the entire team I will be working with, I believe we will succeed in that endeavour”, Zavišić said, who also directed the plays “The Importance of Being Ernest”, “The Chooser” and “ILUZIJÆ (Illusions)” at the National Theatre.
One of Molière's most famous plays, “The Imaginary Invalid”, written in 1673, after so much time is still not only relevant today, but also provocative, because the famous French classic, through laughter and dark humour, examines the moral values of the society, interpersonal relationships, conservatism, greed and quackery depicting a very clear picture of the times and society in which a family is falling apart.
This will be the seventh production of “The Imaginary Invalid” at the National Theatre in Belgrade, the last premiere of which took place on March 20, 2003, also on the “Raša Plaović” Stage, and it was then adapted and directed by Đorđe Marjanović.
