Мiodrag D. Jovanović


Born in Belgrade.

He graduated from the Fifth Belgrade Grammar School and "Stanković" High School of Music, and later on from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (String Department - violin).

He studied singing at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, as well as at the “Giuseppe Verdi” State Conservatory in Milan, Italy. He studied privately with famous vocal pedagogues (Nino Carta, Enrico Fissore, Sara Sforni Corti) in Milan and Piacenza. He earned his master's degree in solo singing at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (in the class of Prof. Radmila Bakočević).

Awards:
He won the Most Promising Young Opera Singer Award at the Faculty of Music presented from "Danica Mastilović" Fund.
He was one of the winners of the "Puccini and His Time" International Competition (Puccini e il suo tempo) in Milan in 1993, as well as a finalist in the "Flaviano Labo" International Competition in Piacenza organised the same year.
In 2006 he received the National Theatre award for special contribution to the work and organisation of the National Theatre Opera as the Opera Manager.
In 2007, he received the biennial award of the "Madlenianum" Opera and Theatre for exceptional artistic creation in the opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" by J. Offenbach (Lindorf, Coppélius, Dapertutto, Dr Miracle). In the same year, he was presented with the National Theatre annual award for his role of Tony in the opera "Pagliacci" by R. Leoncavallo.
In 2009 he received the National Theatre annual award for his role of Don Carlo in the opera "The Force of Destiny" by G. Verdi.
In 2014 he received the National Theatre annual award for his role of a Dutchman in Wagner's opera "The Flying Dutchman ".
In 2017 he received the "Golden Ring", an award presented by the Cultural and Educational Association of Serbia.
In 2019, he received the National Theatre annual award for his role of Mitke in the opera "Koštana" by Petar Konjović.

Professional engagements:
For a while, he worked as a violin and chamber music professor at "Dr. Vojislav Vučković" High School of Music in Belgrade. After moving to Italy, he worked as a professional violinist in various chamber and opera - symphony ensembles and orchestras in northern Italy.
From December 1989 to February 2002 he had the status of a freelance artist (vocal soloist). He is currently a member of the National Theatre Opera in Belgrade with the status of a principal opera singer. From April 2005 to November 2006 he was the Opera Manager of the National Theatre in Belgrade.
He has performed on various opera and concert stages throughout the country (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Smederevo ...) and across the world (USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Moldova, Greece, Slovenia, Macedonia, Korea, Russia .. .), singing the roles of the first baritone.
He did some music recordings for the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation.
